Our charity golf tournament was established in 1996 with our dear friend Greg Adams, who lent his name to the title for the last decade. Beginning in 2006, we rejuvenated our event by adding a Celebrity component. We have been fortunate to have Chuck Kobasew, formally of the Calgary Flames, and now of the Boston Bruins to lend his name to this year's tournament.
The Sandman Harvest Foundation ensures that 100 percent of the money raised goes to children in need. Funds go to many Okanagan charities including the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, Big Brothers and Sisters and Special Olympics. Money from the foundation is also given to individual families to help cover costs that arise as a result of their individual financial circumstance or illness.
The Sandman Harvest Foundation’s mandate is to provide assistance to medically, emotionally and physically disadvantaged children living in the Okanagan Valley. The foundation assists in the expenses associated with travel, accommodation, and incidentals that a family or individual may incur while seeking medical attention for their child. The foundation has also contributed funds to hospitals so that specialized rooms for children can be built.
Since its start, approximately $1,000,000 has been raised for children's charities
here in the Okanagan. Our main recipients include:
| The Rainbow of Opportunities Okanagan Kids Care Fund (KGH) Kelowna General Hospital Foundation Kelowna Minor Hockey Association Morgan Forrest Trust Fund Shawn Bouchard Trust Special Olympics Sunshine Foundation Ian Tiede Trust Fund Kiefer Shereef Trust Fund Big Brothers & Sisters Jacob Stotz Cameron Friesen (Trust Fund) Yvonne Volicek Eathen Armishaw |

Josh Dyck Trust Fund Established
A trust fund has been set up for a Summerland boy involved in a devastating car crash. The three-year-old Josh Dyck was traveling to Kelowna on Highway 97 in October 2006 when he was involved in a head-on collision, which sent him and his parents to different hospitals with serious injuries.
The Sandman Hotels and the Harvest Golf Club in Kelowna have established the Josh Dyck Foundation to help pay for Josh's medical and rehabilitation expenses.
Co-founder of the Sandman Harvest golf event, Al Hryniuk, says the new foundation
has been seeded with $30,000 and will continue to grow through numerous yearly
charity events, such as the Celebrity Golf Classic held in Kelowna.
Josh is now back in the Okanagan, and in 2007 Brian Burke, GM of the
Anaheim Ducks brought the Stanley Cup to Moxie’s for a photo opportunity
for the community. Approximately $7290 was raised for the Josh Dyck Trust,
of which Tom Gaglardi and the local Sandman Inn and Moxie’s matched the
proceeds, for a total of $ 14,580.
Those wishing to contribute to the fund can do so by contacting Salim Kassam at (604) 760-6602, by email at skassam@sandman.ca or by mail to the:
